Welcome to Kathy Admire's Photography!
I am passionate about photography. Even as a young child I saw the world differently - and with much greater clarity - through the lens of a camera.
Kathy Admire Photography was born in 2000, in response to a chance encounter with an elderly gentleman who challenged me to see if I had the eye of a photographer. Words can't even begin to capture the joy I experience in making images and sharing them with others. For me it's a spiritual experience. Sometimes it is as though I go into a different dimension. Time in the normal sense ceases to exist.
My passion is to awaken people to the beauty that surrounds us. One doesn't have to hike in the backcountry or travel to exotic foreign lands to find extraordinary images--they are everywhere just awaiting discovery.
My work appears in private and public collections. I have received numerous awards locally, nationally and internationally, including 'Best of Show' in several competitions. I love to teach photography. Whether I am teaching people how to shoot stunning photos during a Holland America cruise to Alaska, or working with “at risk” children to tap into their creativity, I am always looking for new ways to interact with people who want to expand their knowledge of taking artistic photographs. Several of the individuals I have mentored individually and in group workshops now sell their own work and have gone on to win local, state and national photography award. I offer affordable art through prints for home and office, photocards, and calendars. (See images on my Flickr site).
I will always be a lifelong learner and my horizons continue to expand. It is a privilege to share my images with you.
